"Bay of Islands"- tour via Matakohe – "Kauri Museum"
2 days-one night tour:
We travel via the West Coast to Muriwai Beach, where you can see the "Gannet Colony". The tour goes along the Kaipara Harbour, with its majestic views. On the way you will get an excellent commentary about the pioneering history. Travel to experience life in rural New Zealand at Paparoa/Matakohe.
There at the world
famous "Kauri Museum" at Matakohe you will get an excellent guided tour and you
will discover how the gigantic Kauri trees (height until 60 m) were cut down, moved to
mills and cut into timber. After this you will get a tasty lunch at the "Matakohe
house", before we arrive at Pahi, on a quiet finger of the Northern Kaipara Harbour,
home of old time launches and fishing enthusiasts. It also boasts a Moreton Bay Fig tree,
one of the country´s 10 most notable trees. You find your B&B accomodation nestled
beside buildings which have been restored and also have excellent country shops.
After a relaxing
night and a tasty breakfast we will travel to the "Bay of Islands". At Waitangi
you will have the possibilty to visit the "treaty ground and house". Later on at
Paihia you will have the chance to cruise too the "hole of the rock" and see
dolfins. On the return trip via the East Coast we stop for you at Whangarei, a city with a
scenic coastview. There you can have dinner. Next is the transfer to the famous
"Puhoi Hotel". After this our tour ends and we will take you back to your hotel.

Daytour to the "Kauri Museum":
You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel and brought to the world famous "Kauri Museum" at Matakohe. A guided tour is arranged for you. Discover how the gigantic Kauri trees were cut down, moved to mills and cut into timber. You will get a tasty lunch at the "Matakohe house", before you do a real Kauriman´s bushwalk. Return will be via the East Cost and before coming into Auckland, we will stop at the famous "Puhoi Hotel". Then you will be transferred back to your hotel.
